For irrational reasons, I never wanted (or want) three children. However, these cute quilt tents make me hope people I know have three kids so that they can duplicate this set-up and I can visit. :)See where this picture initially came from here.

No, Peter.... her reasoning for not having three kids is that in a family of three, one of the three always turns out weird. Usually the middle child (umm... sorry Mons =P). Three children work perfectly rationally in a car. Two parents in the front, three kids in the back.
Other rational reasons for 2 kids: they are seated more easily at dinner tables when going to restaurants (minimizing the need to get a fifth awkward chair on the end), and they sleep easier on family vacations (no need for a cot or couch for the third child).
This is how I thought it was explained to me: That she would want to get a mini-van when she has three kids, but that since the three kids do fit in the backseat of a car, she would feel compelled to not get a mini-van. Thus being satisfied that she was being frugal, yet putting up with the inconvenience of a vehicle that's too small.
Hahahaa! Just reading it now! And yes, you'll have no idea how annoying it is to fit a family of 5 in a hotel room that's only fit for 4 people.
