I have nothing of interest to say.
___
There is a vegetarian restaurant called The Table that I am excited to try this week. It is buffet style, and the amount you pay is based on its weight (plate weight discluded). And it looks nice on the outside.
___
Starbucks now sells doughnuts. I think this is stupid.
a) Why pay 1.85 for a doughnut when you can get them for 85 cents at Tim Hortons?
b) The types of doughnuts are less exciting than at Tim Hortons (as in they don't have the pretty strawberry one with white icing and sprinkles)
c) I bet many people will buy them anyways because they want to see why they can be charged 1.85
c) This bothers me that Starbucks can take advantage of it's loyal clientel in this way
It is almost like me knowing as a 12 year old that my parents expect to receive at christmas or birthdays coupon booklets that promise them hugs or cookies as gifts. (cookies made with ingredients that they paid for). This is all okay when I am little.
Starbucks is this twelve year old- expecting people to be content paying two dollars per baked good- and i (the parent) am content paying 2 dollars per baked-good normally, as the effort has been made to be slightly different, and the environment is nice. I am getting what should be expected from them.
However, if I continued to give my mom a coupon booklet for hugs or to make her dinner, (dependent upon her buying the groceries) when I am twenty-five and make more money than her, it shows that I am just trying to get a free ride at Christmas.
By selling average doughnuts at two dollars, Starbucks has become a twenty-five year-old pretending to be twelve. Instead of giving gifts of the appropriate worth due to their position in life (good baked goods that should cost two dollars), they are selling child's gifts at a grown up price (doughnuts at two dollars, as people are used to paying two dollars for baked goods at Starbucks).
(haha two dollars really isn't that much- only when you think of how little that doughnut could cost).
I apologize for that analogy-it was super clear when I started, but has kinda broken down. But I enjoy talking about baked goods.
Anyways- onwards to essay writing!!!!

That's a hilarious analogy. I enjoyed how it just kept going.
